Everyday…

“Aren’t these some times? It’s gotten bad, and it’s been Pressin’ on my mind Got me feelin’ sad But I know you know That we could do more But we just don’t Don’t worry world I feel your pain, and it’s a shame My shoulders are hurt And stressed from the pain And I know you know That you could do more But you And I still believe That there is more love than hate There’s more heart than ache And we are stuck in this great big world together With a little bit of help from up above And a sprinkling of love We can break these chains We will end these days And I know you know That you could do more But you And I still believe That there is more love than hate There’s more heart than ache And we are stuck in this great big world together And I still believe That there is a lot at stake, there’s no time to wait We can change the world if we try We’re gonna change it forever You should join us You, let it be you Who will join us? You, let it be you And I still believe That there is more love than hate There’s more heart than ache And we are stuck in this great big world together And I still believe That there is a lot at stake And there’s no time to wait We can change the world if we try We’re gonna change it forever And I still believe That there is more love than hate There’s more heart than ache And we are stuck in this great big world together And I still believe”

There is something within that song that strikes true. Something that we have to remind ourselves on a daily basis. Things are hurting in this world, but we have the power to change it. It is contrary to the John Mayer song that says we are all just waiting on the world to change, this song is telling us that we are the ones who could take action and make a difference but aren’t. And that is beyond true. It rings true within the Christian society as well. This morning in general epistles, we watched a section from an old chapel speaker who quoted Louie Giglio saying, “Everday 35,000 children die, and you don’t give a shit. And right now, you are more concerned about the fact that I said shit than the 35,000 children dying.” That is one of the truest things i have ever heard. Our community is sitting and complaining that we aren’t being “nice” enough people and the Christian community freaks out over words that are “vulgar” and then brushes RIGHT PAST the idea that CHILDREN are DYING to focus on the fact that this way famous speaker just said shit and what the consequences will be, not what they could be doing for those poor, innocent, wonderful children. I suppose I just don’t know what I can do to even begin to have an affect on the world, and that is where I get stuck. I want to help, but I feel like I  have no power to do anything and no means to get to a place where I could make a difference.
